Toshiba new 3D TV without glasses
At CES Toshiba had an event and most of the press was present there as everybody is curious about the new products they will be launching here at CES. Usually these CES parties are not so enjoyable and everybody tries to skip them but occasionally you get some good information like prototype 4K glasses less 3DTV from Toshiba.
The set will be able to display 4K in 2D mode and the demo of the 3D was quite impressive as it was in 3D from all the position. Maybe for home theater 3D viewing from 3 positions may not be enough as at home there can be more than 3 positions. The quality of the 3D movie compare to the shutter glasses was not so good but this is a proof that Toshiba is trying to do something which is inevitable. Let’s wait for the final news and the price.
Glass free 3D TV from Toshiba
As promised, Toshiba came out with its glass free version of 3D TV before the end of 2010. Of course they could manage only 12 to 20 inch version for Japan. Today at Consumer Electronic Show (CES) the company spokesperson has declared that 2011 will be big year for them and they will be launching 56 and 65 inches 3D TV. According to Reuters, they will launch two models and the size will be 40 inch and 50 inch.
Toshiba’s head of visual products, Mr. Atsushi Murasawa declared that the product will not be only for Japan but also for America, China and Europe. Till today they have not given any prices or the date of release. The mystery will be there till somebody comes out with the details related to price from the Toshiba family.
LG to launch 3D TV with passive glasses
If you want to know LG’s agenda for CES – Consumer Electronic Show, then it is the launching the 3D TV with passive glasses.
As per the latest news, Vizio is going to launch 3D TV that can be viewed with the help of passive glasses. LG is ready to give them competition. Now even they have announced that in CES they will be launching 3D TV along with the pair of light weight, battery free passive glasses.
The model they will be unveiling in CES is LW6500 which has features of LED plus and HDMI 1.4. The TV can access LG’s App store. LG has not declared the size of the TV but most probably it will not be bigger than LG’s 72 inch LZ9700 3D TV as the same product is also being launched at the show. This product has no mention of passive glasses.
Today almost all the 3D TVs need active shutter glasses. This can be the hurdle for the 3D TV progress as consumer is not happy with it and it is expensive. As per the claim from LG there passive glasses are ‘flicker free’ and do not give you protection from eye fatigue compare to active glasses. They will not require any charging and batteries. The glasses will be sleeker like Vizio’s. Everybody will be waiting for LG to show off many features of LW6500 along with the glasses.
