So, who’s in the market for a solar powered 3D printer? Not yet? Well, check out the video because you’ve gotta get a load of this. Markus Kayser has developed what he calls the Solar Sinter, an art project that has taken the internet by storm. Essentially, he can take solar rays and desert sand and deliver something that will make your jaw drop.
What’s so intriguing about this is the development of such technology. We’re starting to see ingenious ways of using the elements to create what we have been attempting to do synthetically for decades. Ok, well, it’s still relatively synthetic, but you get what I’m saying here, right? I wasn’t sure what to expect, and got far more than I had hoped for. Well played, Mr. Kayser.
Replace the laser of your 3D printer with the sun and lose the resin and replace it with sand. That’s the entire model here, and as you can see in the vid, there’s no doubt that he’s onto something. The Solar Sinter is now at the Royal College of Art for everyone to get a closer look at. Maybe it’s time to take a trip? Or, maybe it’s just time for you watch the video…
