3D Home Theater from Samsung

Samsung is ready with its new 3D home theater system HT-C6930W.  They want consumer to enjoy all the audio and stereoscopic 3D experience from the comfort of their home.  In the home theater, you will get a 3D Blu-ray player, 7.1 or 5.1 channel speakers for 3D audio visual experience.  Officially they are not mentioning anything about the pair of stereoscopic 3D glasses which ideally they should give along with the home theater.  This shows that you need to buy those glasses out of the main system.  The important thing is that system will be Wi-Fi which will reduce your cabling and wiring mess.  Reproduction from other devices like cell phone and notebook will be in regular 2D.
Since it is up to date with new technology, it has come with many promises. Hope it leaves up to the high expectation.

2011 Samsung monitor preview

Samsung is one of the largest multinational companies and standout monitor vendors. Samsung will release the 750 and 950 in a number of configurations, involving both HDTV/monitor hybrid versions and normal monitor versions with screen sizes at 23 and 27 inch. All alternative will make use of only this Samsung’s registered 3D technology, involving its own built-in 3D emitter and wireless 3D glasses. There are various specification provided by Samsung like for normal Monitor versions 23-inch S23A750D, 27-inch S27A750D, 23 inch S23A950D, 27-inch S27A950D, pixel resolution provided is 1,920x1,080 response time is 2ms, touch of colors on 750 models. For HDTV/monitor models 23-inch T23A750, 27-inch T27A750, 23-inch T23A950, 27-inch T27A950, pixel resolution provided is same as in normal monitor version, response time supported is 5ms, 100 percentage RGB coverage and touch of colors on 750 models.

Because of various features of HDTV/monitor it will probably cost more. As for 3D content, the 750 and 950 are very compatible with 3DTV, 3D movies and user defined 3D content like 3D videos and 3D photos. Also the SA950 monitor and the TA750 and TA950 HDTV/monitor can change normal 2D content to be delivered in 3D. This work almost for all things like movies, console games and PC games but its most probably that converted or transferred 3D content will not look as interesting and attractive as content particularly made for 3D. Samsung monitors also involve eco motion sensor and ambient light sensor which automatically turns off or on the monitor if a user has actually left the area for a while.

One of the most impressive things about theses Samsung monitors is the indubitable smoothness of the image delivered when watching HD movies. Samsung monitor makes use of TN panel which involves Samsung’s largest technology Ultra clear panel. The results provided by Samsung monitor is quite amazing and very impressive and gave content running on the monitor a level of pop which you would not see in other monitor with almost similar content. Apart from all these features Samsung’s also provide Smart TV features offering access to twitter, facebook, youtube and netflix. You can also download wide range of Samsung’s applications through this onscreen convenience. All Samsung 3D enabled 950 and 750 normal monitors or HDTV/monitors will be launched on March, 2011. The prices for all these models have not been decided yet.

Plasma’s Dead? Think Again…

Just when it seems that one technological movement has been replaced by another, plasma televisions get a reprieve, and interest in the phosphor gas technology creates a spike in plasma sales.  Why is this happening now?  Honestly, the LCD utilization of LED-backlighting caused quite a stir and seemed to signal the beginning of the end, but when the 3D craze really took hold, suddenly plasma had a place in the industry.

In addition to the 3D capabilities, the economy may be affecting the sales figures as well.  As a general rule, plasma TVs are a bit more affordable than their LED counterparts, and with Samsung scheduled to release the 51-64 inch D8000 models this Spring, there seems to be a resurgence in interest.

Consumer interest in the 3D element is giving the plasma market the ability to get back in the fight and potentially establish themselves as a front-runner once again.  Don’t discount the size of the units, as well.  Bigger is better, and when plasmas come in no smaller than 42 inches, there’s no doubt that there will be a market.  It seemed not long ago that Panasonic was announcing the end of their plasma lines for good.  Yet, we find ourselves staring down a new line scheduled for release from Panasonic that should continue to invigorate the interest in the phosphor gas technology.

Because there aren’t any of the hang-ups that some backlit units must deal with, plasma is getting another chance, and with the 3D movement showing no signs of slowing, don’t be surprised if this horse takes the lead down the stretch.

Samsung Announces Cheaper Active 3D Glasses

There’s no doubt that we are watching a heavyweight title bout when it comes to supremacy in the 3D world.  With LG and Samsung trading uppercuts regarding passive and active 3D technology, it’s hard to predict just where this thing is going to finish up.  But, Samsung’s recent announcement that they’ll be making active 3D glasses much cheaper, there’s no doubt that this is about to get real interesting.

The new SSG-3100GB 3D glasses will be selling for $50 a pop starting May 1st.  This is a huge markdown considering that these glasses once sold for $130.  And, to ensure that people are sticking with the active 3D and not defecting to the passive 3D side, all of Samsung’s 3D 2011 HDTVs will come with 2 pairs.

This is undoubtedly a response to LG’s ads that show just how expensive the active shutter 3D technology can be.  By focusing on price points, the company is making a power play to re-direct the market.  If this occurs, plenty of development costs could fly out the window for Samsung.  But, when you’re the big dog on the block, you don’t give up your position easily.  Expect this fight to rage for at least the rest of the year.  Have you tried both?  If not, give it a shot, but remember to keep your eyes peeled…nobody’s sure where this is going to end.

If you like a bit of style with your television, you may have found your match.  The Samsung UND6400 combines aesthetic appeal with great performance, and the incredibly thin bezel gives the appearance that there’s nothing but picture sitting atop your entertainment center.

The edge-lit LED LCD unit had great video capabilities, and relatively decent levels of black.  Improvements have obviously been made in the 3D areas, and Samsung’s Smart Hub host offers much more in terms of 3D content than other options.  When you toss in a couple of sets of 3D glasses, the entire package is enticing...until you notice the price tag.

The screen itself leaves a bit to be desired at times, and the gloss used for the screen panel scatters some light that gets a bit distracting.  We also weren’t big fans of the search system used with Smart Hub as it tends to leave you manually searching anyway.

When switching between 2D and 3D viewing, the UND6400 is pretty versatile.  In terms of edge-lit LED LCD units, this particular Samsung model isn’t bad, though we’d have liked the price to be a bit below where it’s currently residing...then again, can’t we say that about everything?  All in all, it’s a reliable unit with plenty of compatible features, and if you can fork over the funds, it isn’t a bad choice.
