Are you a Glee-head? Well, if you’re a member of the massive pop culture fan base, you’ll be getting your favorite guilty pleasure in 3D. Fox has announced that Glee is getting a 3D makeover, as they are filming live segments from the upcoming Glee Live! In Concert!Tour. August 12th marks the 3D theatre release of the popular musical exhibition.
Ryan Murphy, credited with co-creating Glee, mentioned that the 3D theatre showings will give “Gleeks” the ability to get in on the action in case they missed the live tour when it came through town. Because there are fans everywhere, it’s next to impossible to get to everyone, so the 3D theatre release simply makes sense.
The full-length production will not simply be the stage show, however. Instead, fans will get a behind the scenes look at the production as well as various skits involving some of the most popular Glee characters. With the 3D trend continuing regarding concerts and operatic performances, expect this to be another step in the growing trend of delivering live performances in 3D movie theatres.
