Research in Motion (RIM), the manufacturer of BlackBerry may adopt 3D technology from next year. There are also rumors that HTC, Sharpe and Apple are getting ready to launch 3D mobile devices. So soon BlackBerry may also join the 3D mobile world.
There are gossips that BlackBerry manufacturer is planning to add some features to BlackBerry to make it a three dimensional display.
RIM has recently purchased the Swedish Company, “The Astonishing Tribe” (TAT). This purchase has sowed the seeds of rumor. TAT is a specialist in manufacturing 3D user interfaces.
The Astonishing Tribe has been making new efforts to create 3D displays until recently. It has been developing technology, which would be perfectly used in a smart phone.
TAT has been especially building up a switch that would be used in a 3D interface. The position of the switch would be the Smartphone user’s hand.
We are not sure whether a BlackBerry business user would like to play 3D games, watch 3D movies or enjoy some other applications on their device. However, 3D technology is more beneficial for all these matters only. This would become an issue and would be discusses at the Head Quarters of RIM.
There is reasoning behind the plan of Apple to develop 3D iPods and iPhones and HTC to develop 3D Android phones. These devices are mostly used by users for gaming and entertainment.
BlackBerry is not meant for gaming purposes, so it remains unclear whether RIM will follow the same 3D track or not.
