The first autostereocopic 3D mobile phone has just been introduced by LG. The Optimus 3D is the first of its kind to go glasses-free and is available exclusively from the Carphone Warehouse. This is what we’ve been waiting for! Lose the glasses and get your 3D experience the way it should be. The phone has a 4.3” WVGA display and is capable of displaying 2D images at 1080p and 3D at up to 720p.
The Carphone Warehouse pumped up the Optimus 3D’s release by painting 3D optical illusions in cities such as Glasgow and Manchester. The phone is available only through The Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy and should be a hot seller early on. I know I would want to be one the first in line to check out this neat device. (That’s if you have the £500for the out of contract price.)
The Optimus runs on the cheap and versatile Android operating system which has made owing a smart phone much more possible for the everyday person. It is also equipped with an HDMI 1.4 connection to a TV, a 5 mega-pixel dual lens camera, 8GB of memory, and built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities for speedy Internet connections.
Among the glasses-free 3D features is a collection of games and the great thing about this device is being able to shoot your own 3D. Your footage can be uploaded to a YouTube 3D channel and although you are not able to view any 3D movies on the phone yet, Carphone Warehouse says this is in the works. The Optimus 3D opens the door for you to have a 3D experience in the palm of your hand and the best part is no glasses needed!
