As per the Virgin Media, like year 2010 they will again give preference to their 3D strategy in the year 2011 by releasing its latest set top box in the coming year. Most of the 3D content from Virgin Media was limited in the year 2010 like many others in the 3D business. According to them 2011 will see more content not only from them but also from their competitors.
The immediate rival of the Virgin Media, Sky has launched new 3D channel in the year 2010. The channel is dedicated to all the sports events, arts and films which are 3D.
All the 3D content created by Virgin Media is available through on demand service. It has a strategic deal with Samsung to show all its 3D content to the public. This shows that company is ready to take care of the people who are willing to see the 3D content on their 3D equipment.
As per the quotes give by Virgin Media’s Cindy Rose, Virgin Media is still into building the 3D strategy which they need to work on and they will be doing lots of 3D stuff this year as they have collaboration with Samsung. Virgin Media would like to take care of the people who have spent lots of money on buying 3D television sets. Those people deserve better viewing of 3D.
Today there is not much 3D content as every company is into making of 3D content. The ongoing war over films like ‘Avatar’ and ‘Toy Story – 3’ are the pillars of 3D content. Zalman ZM-M240W Stereoscopic Monitor
Stereoscopic 3D monitors are getting more popular now days. The latest entry into the rapidly growing line of 3d monitors is the Zalman ZM-M240W. It’s a 24” stereoscopic 3D monitor in LCD. It’s a good size, that’s not too big to be used as a desktop and not too small for 3d movies or games. The monitor comes at a native resolution of 1920 x 1080, supporting full HD movie viewing. When you buy the monitor, you’ll get two pairs of polarizing 3d glasses, one of them being clip-ons. It has a good 5ms response time, so you can expect a good gaming experience as well as crystal clear movies.
The monitor has both D-SUB and DVI inputs, and also has an audio connector for speakers. You will need a PC with a 3D capable graphics card, like the nVidia 3D vision kit , have third party 3d drivers installed or something similar to be able to play 3D games.
The M240W uses a polarizing filter with polarized glasses to deliver 3d content. The advantage of polarized 3d over active shutter is that the glasses you wear would be lighter, and you don’t need any power to them. Active shutter is, however, the industry preferred standard.
Polarizing 3d does, however have it’s advantages. For one, you won’t have the problem of flickering or ghosting. It is also a much more economical alternative to active shutter glasses.
Using the Zalmain ZM-M240W as a 2D monitor is just as good. It’s got a standard refresh rate of 60Hz, and a pretty good response time. Colour reproduction is nice, with some vibrant brights and some very black blacks.
Overall, the ZM-M240W works really well as a 2D or a 3D monitor. If you’re in the market for a 3D monitor, you should consider this as a pretty solid competitor. It retails at just under $500. If you own one, or are planning on buying one, we’d love to hear your experiences in the comments below.

Panasonic retains Avatar exclusivity till world’s end.. well almost
The ads are everywhere, and Panasonic is making sure that you know that with every Panasonic 3DTV you buy, you get a free copy of Avatar 3d. Now that in itself is a brilliant move on their part, marketing- wise. But apparently, Panasonic UK retains exclusive rights to sell/ give away Avatar 3D till their contract ends in 2012 february. It’s a bit ridiculous, and totally unfair to those who aren’t big fans of Panasonic but really want Avatar (hey, it is a great movie after all). Of course, there’s always an option of going online and picking up a copy of the disk on ebay, but with a price tag of $150, I’d say that’s not going to be happening much either.

Copy Paste brings clone tool into the 3D
Using the right software can help you become a photo editing expert. You can remove redeye, eliminate ugly blemishes and add a funny image in the background. If you haven’t found it comfortable to try them in 3D, it can be an unsatisfying experience for you. New Scientist has helped us in this respect. We have just get a glance of a Stereoscopic 3D Copy and paste presentation made by Joren Van Baar and Wan Yen Lo, veteran Swiss engineers. It provides tools to define various planes and objects on an image. It is like you were grabbing a shape with a magic tool, duplicate it and moving it around the parts of the 3D photo. This software manages occlusion automatically and recreates shadows. If you try to change the perspective, the result may not be perfect. Similarly, if you try to occlude an object partially behind some transparent thing, it does not give the ideal result.

3D technology for the education
If you think 3D technology is meant only for the entertainment industry like television, movies and games then you will be surprised to know that even education industry is interested in 3D technology and using it to make the teaching interesting for students.
The students of biology class learned their work in the 3D enabled projectors with the help of 3D glasses. If you check the reaction of the student then you will come to know that they are quite happy with the 3D teaching. Their reactions were positive. Many were thrilled to learn with the help of 3D technology. Teachers as well as students are happy with the way difficult topics can be explained in it.
Unfortunately, this is possible only for a few well funded schools of developed countries. They can expect those 3D images in their palms also within next few years but many developing countries cannot afford this and will have to work on the old systems only. For them these new technologies can only be in the books and they still need to only imagine the difficult concept from the text book.

New 3D TV without glasses
According to the President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), Andrew House, 3D technology adaption has been much faster than the transition of the standard definition television to High definition television. This can be supported by the new 3D channel by sky along with so many new 3D games which are there in the market for the last year. He further added that the only problem with this progress is the economic uncertainty that is currently gripping UK as well as the entire Europe.
He was talking with the UK centric video game trade magazine, MCV at that time. When the journalist asked him a question related to the tipping point for 3D penetration at home, Mr. Andrew House ignored the question and declared about the faster adoption of 3D TVs and related products. He praised Sky Broadcasting and their track record in stimulating HD uptake which was surprising for the journalists. He hoped same or better changes in the 3D industry along with the new channel from sky that is dedicated to the 3D content only. This is the first channel throughout the Europe which will display so much 3D content. As Sony’s Video gaming’s head, Mr. House would like to play the big role in the change. He wants everybody to enjoy the new 3D experience. It is known to everybody that 3D games are used by the 3D industry for attracting people towards 3D industry like televisions sets and movies. Today 3D movies are most enjoyable only in theatres and sports related programmes can be watched better in pubs where you have 3D facilities.
Today 3D glasses are the important material for watching 3D movies or playing 3D games so people who are ready to buy those glasses can only enjoy the program. Not everybody would like to buy so many glasses as every person who will watch program need 3D glasses. Glass free 3D Television sets are on the horizon and everybody is looking forward to it.
