Blu-ray 3D we like to get in 2011
Last year, 3D was not enthralling. Though the technology was there, the content was limited. We felt that we were depending on the few pieces available.
2011 has opened new doors for 3D. Many amazing announcements have been coming. VUDU announced some 3D plans recently. HBO and ESPN will also continue to concentrate on 3D.
Blu-ray 3D has many opportunities. Panasonic has a firm hold on Avatar and we guess it won’t let it up till 2012. We don’t want to blame them. Meanwhile, this should be an excellent year for Blu-ray 3D. Disney will offer 15 of its movies on Blu-ray 3D format. We are eagerly waiting to enjoy eight films from the comfort of our home.
Tangled
The classic story of Rapunzel was renamed as Tangled by Disney. Tangled attracted Blu-ray 3D users very much. They started pre ordering for it, even before Disney announced the release date. It was on the top of the hot sellers list.
Coraline
People perplex this fairytale for a Tim Butron flick, because it is very frightening. Anyhow, there is a slight connection. Henry Selick, the director of this movie controlled Tim Burton’s the Nightmare before Christmas. Apart from this connection, Coraline has plenty of Burton like imagery. This movie is a winner in terms of exciting animation, a cool story and great Blu-ray 3D action.
Tron Legacy
This movie did not feature cool 3D like Avatar. We spent so much time with our youth talking up the original version.
Beauty and the Beast
Disney released this classic movie in 3D last year. It was extremely good on Blu-ray. We were very much excited about a 3D version. We believed that just the “Be our Guest” scene is enough for the price of the disc. We will have to wait. Disney promises to deliver its Blu-ray 3D in 2011. The release date has not yet announced.
The Lion King
The Lion King is one of the spectacular films made by Disney. It was the biggest animated movie, before Finding Nemo came. The beautiful images are pretty appealing. It scored two Oscars for music. We guess this should be the best seller for the Blu-ray 3D format, if the studio does not mess it up.
Jack Ass 3D
Paramount had collected $169 million at the box office, when this movie was released last October. It was funny to watch a Lamborghini pulling a man’s tooth. It was released in 3D. Unfortunately, the home audiences will not get the same enchantment. Blu-ray/DVD combo pack will have a 3D version of Jackass and the users can enjoy viewing it with a pair of paper glasses that come with the pack.
Piranha 3D
Piranha 3D is all about body parts and lady parts. Film makers did not have even tried to pass it off any other things. It is not suitable for the whole family. Star cast including Adam Scott, Elisabeth Shue, Ving Rhames and special appearance of Richard Dreyfuss and Christopher Lloyd pushed this movie into must see category.
The Ultimate wave Tahiti
How it could be if you ride on waves that are as big as buildings? The Ultimate Wave will offer you such an experience. The upcoming Blu-ray 3D will allow you to enjoy some awe-inspiring views. Kelly Slater, nine time world surfing champion and Raimana Van Bastolaer, Tahitian surfer will take you to explore the best waves on the reef at Tahiti. You can also enjoy viewing the close up view of ocean life in this movie.
Review on Avatar 3D Blu-ray
Blu-ray 3D new release of movie Avatar is now available in two different ways. For the past purchasers of the Panasonic 3D television by the loyalty program, that is available on their website, or to the newly available starter kit of Panasonic, that includes the Avatar film. On the 3D TVs of Panasonic only the 2 pairs of the glasses (rechargeable) are used. The past starter kits of Panasonic contains the battery power versions, which have got completely different build, this is a good option for the people who owns Panasonic gear.
The disc BD 50 easily contains the versions of 2D as well as 3D film. It will easily detect on what type of TV it is played, as in the 3D sets, the screens of pre-menu is in 3D. The main menu also offer you to make a choice regarding the version that you wish to watch, after you press the tab of play film. The menu available on the 3D television set has got the option of the 3D tabs but the background video of 3D is not there.
Avatar film in 3D is a big achievement, an amazing experience which gave a rise to 3D technology. After the film Ice Age, the second comes Avatar which will be released in Blu-ray 3D title. The experience of Avatar 3D is unrivaled among the other releases in Blu-ray. It has got beautiful and amazing, mind numbing of the 3D content, which shows some beautiful scenes without added dimensionality. The 3D is perfect, superbly sharp, detail as well as distinction without blur. The color is perfect and strong as like the release of the original 2D and the level of the brightness are perfect. The audio sounds same like the original 2D Avatar. There is no difference in the audio 5.1 DTS-HD. There are no descriptive tracks and 2.0 English Dolby Digital in this release.
The options of dub and subtitle are same in this release like the original edition. The movie Avatar made records all over the world at the box office, and the presentation of the film on 3D was a big hit. The 3D version of the movie available for your home is a hot property, which Panasonic as well as Fox has locked for sometime as retail exclusive. The supply on the Blu-ray 3D is more available, because of the loyalty program as well as from the purchase of the Panasonic sets. The Blu-ray 3D will work till the time retail version of the Avatar comes out.

Kenny Chesney Summer in 3D, get Blu-ray 3D disc soon, blu ray 3d with 4 bonus songs
Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D scheduled for Blu-ray release March 29
It seems that everyone is trying to get themselves into the digital 3D world, and the newest member…Kenny Chesney. ‘Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D’ will be available on March 29th via Image Entertainment, and will be a Blu-ray 3D disc. Footage that follows the country star across six dates of his tour, gives fans great stage shots, virtual front row seats, and behind the scenes footage that brings you closer than ever to one of the most popular music artists in the world. With features not shown in the theatrical release, still photos and interviews really give you a better understanding of who this magnetic individual really is…
Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound coupled with the 1080p video quality make this quite the showing of modern capabilities. Many can find the release at retailers for the suggested price of $24.99. Any questions regarding the release can be directed to the Blu-ray release schedule.
This trend is interesting, and I can’t help but wonder if ticket sales will see any impact, as we are being given the ability to see the artists we love up close and personal while sitting on the couch. I’m sure the experience will lure many, but when you can get interviews, front row virtual seating, and behind the scenes footage for under $25 bucks, the question is at least worth asking…

‘Drive Angry’ featuring Nicholas Cage to be released on May 31 on Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D
‘Drive Angry’ featuring Nicholas Cage to be released on May 31 on Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D
Oh, Nicholas Cage. It’s really hard to be upset with the guy, but his willingness to take any role, even if it’s little more than a student film, has made me wary. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Con-Air (despite the terrible southern accent), and while most of his movies have their moments, he can be a little over the top.
All of this being said, ‘Drive Angry’, despite some predictability, had some very entertaining scenes, and the May 31st release date of the Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D could make for an exciting 3D action flick movie night.
Vengeance is a dish better served cold...wait, that’s revenge...well, either way, returning from hell to avenge your daughter’s murder can make for some decent entertainment. The disc set is listed to include interviews with the cast and crew, deleted scenes, and some audio commentary.
With a suggested sale price of $30.49 for the Blu-ray and $34.99 for the 3D rendition, ‘Drive Angry’ should give you a fast-paced 3D adventure, complete with fast cars and flying bullets. Anytime there are opportunities to see action flicks in 3D, we’re there. And while the expectations may not be Oscar-worthy, the movie is meant to be fun...we expect nothing less from our buddy Nick...

The Green Hornet slated for release on Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D on May 3rd
When you think about the quirky hero The Green Hornet there’s no doubt that visions of Bruce Lee as “Kato” come to mind. The re-make of the classic, featuring Seth Rogan and Jay Chou, will be released on Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D on May 3rd. A DVC combo pack will also be available on the release date, ensuring that everybody that wants a crack at this movie will get one.
Though the film wasn’t shot in 3D, a post-production conversion brought the latest craze in filmmaking to the feature. With 1080p video, an HD 5.1 Master Audio, and tons of features, this Blu-ray package offers much more than just the movie itself. Director commentary, a great gag reel, and even footage of Jay Chou’s audition for the role of Kato highlight the extras.
Those looking to snag the 3D rendition will also enjoy taking a look at storyboards that show how the film got from concept to the big screen. When it comes to classic movies, I’ve always loved seeing the storyboards, as it’s interesting to learn how close they came to their desired finished product. Expect to fork out around $34.95 for the Blu-ray and $49.95 for the combo pack.
