Who doesn’t love Disney? There are more reasons for 3D lovers to embrace the cartoon juggernaut, as the Disney D23 Expo brought great news to 3D advocates. Over 500 people visited the expo and were polled regarding their thoughts on 2D versus 3D technology. A staggering 71% stated that they believed that 3D content was “dramatically better” than 2D content, signaling a change in the overall mentality regarding the popular platform.
To heighten the excitement, 27% of those polled claimed that the 3D visuals were “fabulous”, and half of those present mentioned that they wished they had the technology in their home. This is important, as we are beginning to see prices come down and adoption rates increase. Remember, “if you build it they will come”, and the presence of more 3D content will undoubtedly increase the opt-in rate.
The survey was conducted by an organization doing so on behalf of Panasonic, so take that for what it is. But, fudging numbers is unlikely, as the questions seemed to be very direct. What’s your take on 3D technology? 3D TV numbers are rising, and with so many units maintaining the technology regardless of whether or not it’s the driving force behind the purchase, there will be quite a bit of experimentation in the coming months. Weigh in below and let us know your thoughts regarding 3D home entertainment and whether or not you’ve already gotten in on the action.
