Best Price 3D : 3D for You and Me

YouTube is now giving you that 3D content you’ve been looking for to take that shiny new 3D monitor for a spin.  Your standard 2D videos are now completely convertible, giving you the ability to take your favs and bring them to the next level.  When you’re on the popular video hosting site, simply click “Edit Video” and you’ll notice a 3D Video icon off to the right.  It’s getting pretty simple, isn’t it?

Your 2D video will remain available, but a 3D rendition will also be present, giving you the ability to “Broadcast Yourself” in the 21st century.  There’s nothing like making the next Avatar with your D&D friends, is there?  Granted, the conversions still have some advancement required, but for now, with so many starved for 3D content, it’s definitely a welcomed report.

This also comes on the heels of the “YouTube 3D Video Creator” provided by the website that allows for 3D content creation via 2 camera angles.  The application has proven to actually deliver some good results, so those of you that have an interest in posting your pranks, art, or “Stop Hating Brittney” videos can now do so in 3D.  I definitely can’t wait to see your exploits in 3D…this should be a riot.

Sky has promised to improve its 3D content.  They will be adding some extra functions into their 3D channel.  This is the first 3D channel in the United Kingdom.  Currently it is like a showreel for content which is going on the channel at a later date.  This autumn extra full length content will be added to it.
Sky’s Brian Lenz has announced extra functionality which includes automatic switching between 2D and 3D.
He claimed further that they are going to change the software preferences.  He was talking in 3D TV world Forum in London.  Currently user needs to press 3D button on their remote control to turn the mode into 3D, when back in the EPG, it will then change to 2D.
Many people wanted to know why there is no Electronic Programming guide for 3D.  To this Lenz’s answer was that giving guide for one channel is of no use.  Maybe after few days we might introduce one.
He further added that though Sky is expecting 3D TV to be as popular as its HD service and aware of the fact that it will not happen overnight.  According to him, it is a long term process and when we say success, we mean repeating the take up profiles of HD, sky and digital.  Success to sky means after 3 years they will be introducing one more 3D channel as it shows that people are ready for 3D technology and they want more of it.
Lenz refused to give any sort of discounts to 3D TV manufacturers to improve 3D market in the United Kingdom after knowing that all the 3D content which his channel is showing needs 3D TV only.  He maintained that they are having enough challenges with the subsidised kit that they are making for themselves.  He claims that today the prices of the 3D TV are much lower than the first time HD was introduced.
Sky has already started showing 3D coverage in pubs recently.  It has already shown 7 hours of content like Champions League and rugby Heineken Cup to its fans.  There are many more programs which channel has decided to try for their 3D channel.   Sports, education, knowledge and movie all the information will be there on the sky channel very soon.

3D content from Virgin Media in 2011

As per the Virgin Media, like year 2010 they will again give preference to their 3D strategy in the year 2011 by releasing its latest set top box in the coming year.  Most of the 3D content from Virgin Media was limited in the year 2010 like many others in the 3D business.  According to them 2011 will see more content not only from them but also from their competitors.

The immediate rival of the Virgin Media,  Sky has launched new 3D channel in the year 2010.  The channel is dedicated to all the sports events, arts and films which are 3D.

All the 3D content created by Virgin Media is available through on demand service.  It has a strategic deal with Samsung to show all its 3D content to the public.  This shows that company is ready to take care of the people who are willing to see the 3D content on their 3D equipment.

As per the quotes give by Virgin Media’s Cindy Rose, Virgin Media is still into building the 3D strategy which they need to work on and they will be doing lots of 3D stuff this year as they have collaboration with Samsung.  Virgin Media would like to take care of the people who have spent lots of money on buying 3D television sets.  Those people deserve better viewing of 3D.

Today there is not much 3D content as every company is into making of 3D content.  The ongoing war over films like ‘Avatar’ and ‘Toy Story – 3’ are the pillars of 3D content.  Today Sky is in a quite secure position because of its financial stability and its investment in 3D content development.  Still involvement of Virgin Media should be viewed as a positive outlook towards 3D content with more and more people buying or upgrading their existing television set to 3D set.

To view the content made by Virgin Media in 3D, you need 3D technology television set and Samsung is also ready to put huge amounts of investments.

As many are questioning the long-term effects of watching 3D images for long periods of time, Sony UK noted the changes that we’re seeing with 3D content, and how it will affect viewers and their comfort levels.  Your brain focuses on what it’s seeing in an entirely new way, as the stereoscopic effects do take some getting used to.  However, there are techniques that are emerging that should help to alleviate most, if not all, of these effects, making for a better 3D experience.

The 3D track has been fun to follow.  Initially, things looked strong.  Then, for a period, things cooled off, as many realized that Hollywood was using it as a gimmick to sell us on horrible scripts.  But, alas, the heavy hitters in Tinseltown are now beginning to back the 3D platform, and promise to bring better technology, better movies, and an overall better experience.

Remember, color television took some getting used to for many, so don’t think that this is going to go away.  Hearing Sony talk about better content and technology gets us all riled up.  We love hearing about this stuff, and knowing that the big dogs are going to elevate the platform further only re-establishes what we already knew:  3D is here to stay, and with advancement will become the platform of the 21st century.

There’s nothing like getting good information from the horse’s mouth, and while we love hearing corporate executives sound off about various technology, we love hearing them blast Hollywood even more.  While I’m sure he wasn’t looking to make any enemies in the film industry, Andrew Denham was very candid in explaining that Hollywood is looking to get higher ticket revenues by using the 3D technology, but is dropping the ball in delivering on quality.  Really?  We hadn’t noticed…

“It all comes back to quality…Hollywood damaged 3D by rushing so many badly converted films out in the Avatar’s wake.”  - Andrew Denham, Panasonic Marketing Director

Wow, that’s pretty darned telling, isn’t it?  He later called for the “next Avatar” that would push the envelope again, and while he acknowledges that that is a tall order, he believes that it’s quite possible.  Denham went on to mention that it’s “very easy to make bad 3D”, and later, Sky 3D director John Cassy reminded us that Sky only makes native 3D programming.  That’s the key to creating quality content.  Stop relying on the 3D visual to make up for a horrible script or shoddy acting.  Instead, write a damn good movie, and produce it in 3D.  That will brings things to the next level.  We appreciate your sentiments Mr. Dunham.  Keep ‘em coming…it gives us some water cooler talk around here…

Those with 3D TVs have been waiting for quite some time to get quality programming to utilize their new toys.  Well, 3net is hearing you, and they’re rolling out a pretty strong lineup that kicks off this month.  Discovery, Sony, and IMAX are all involved with the surge in 3D content offerings, so there’s no doubt that consumers that crave 3D will be excited about these developments.

From nature to adventure, entertainment to culture, there’s nothing that won’t be covered, and with many still contemplating the conversion to 3D, this should give them an added incentive to take the plunge.  Tom Cosgrove, President of 3net, mentioned that this lineup was specifically designed to eliminate the excuse that the lack of content is ultimately causing 3D sales to grow stagnant.

3net is still a “baby” in terms of networks, but they plan on dominating the 3D market by the end of the year.  They are working up a library of native 3D content that will rival any other offering, so expect them to become a huge player in the 3D craze.  The lineup is viewable through their website, and with an upcoming 3D Civil War exhibition, look for 3D junkies to get excited right about…now…

YouTube 3D Offers Up 3D Content

Those with a 3D TV can now rely on YouTube to help them fill their time.  The viral internet video website is now offering up 3D versions of their content to those with the hardware to support it.  Yep, that’s right.  Basically, YouTube is ensuring that they live long beyond the lame-o 2D videos that have plagued our society for decades…Ok, that was a very melodramatic rendition of the truth, but either way, if you’ve got the hardware, YouTube 3D has the goods.

Regardless of your hardware, active 3D, passive 3D, or even the blue/red paper glasses that we all used to loathe back in the day, you’ll be able to enjoy 3D content through YouTube 3D.  That pretty much covers the world of 3D TVs, but if you have a 3D computer setup, you can get in on the action also.  But, there’s a caveat…you gotta have The Firefox 4 web browser, as NVIDIA, Mozilla, and Google all announced a partnership that will ensure compatibility.

Because we’ve seen a spike in 3D handheld camcorders, expect this to absolutely take off.  There’s no doubt that people want 3D content, and while we wait, YouTube 3D is making sure that we aren’t doing so in vain.  Those that have the capability to view such content are encouraged to let us know which vids are offering the best entertainment.  We’ll do the same, as you know what we’re doing as soon as we’re done posting this article…
