Onkyo Joins the 3D Blu-ray Game: The BD-SP309 Available in May

Next month marks the maiden voyage of Onkyo’s 3D Blu-ray attempt.  The BD-SP309 will be available to consumers in mid-May and is priced to move at $249.  Despite the lack of impressive features that blow the alternatives away, the new Onkyo 3D player seems to be a solid option for 3D playback.

Streaming content is no problem, and users can enjoy Vudu, Netflix, or audio from Pandora.  An Ethernet cord provides your online connection, and at the moment, there are no wireless capabilities.  It’s likely that this will be remedied in future models, but for the time being, users will have to do without.

Outputting your DVDs through an HDMI port is no problem, but that isn’t surprising.  That particular feature has become an industry standard.  USB ports help you stream audio and video content through a multitude of formats, so this should help you keep your content library intact.

Expect to see the Onkyo 3D Blu-ray player on shelves in the middle of next month priced at $249.
