Sony: The Future of 3D is Bright!
Make no mistake about it, I love optimism, and while there have been several detractors regarding the Nintendo 3DS, I have always wondered why many aren’t realizing what we are actually witnessing: the first generation 3D gaming device that will undoubtedly lead to massive changes in the industry. Sony sees what we’re talking about, and Mick Hocking of Sony London Studios obviously has 3D on his mind. In mentioning the current 3D landscape, he mentions that the future of 3D as a “creative medium” will continue to push what we believe, as gamers, is possible.
I couldn’t agree more, as I’ve told everyone that the 3DS has offered so much beyond the gaming experience of the console itself. That being said, I love my 3DS and haven’t had any issue with the release. Sony apparently plans on integrated 3D technology with the Playstation Move, so things like Resistance 3should begin to show us what is in store for 3D gaming.
Properly understanding where we are in 3D technology can help consumers accurately project where things will be in a few years. Sure, we’re starting to see plenty of glasses-free 3D units, but it will take time to perfect. After all, flat screens underwent a similar trial by fire.

When gadgets can work in the sleep mode
Stereoscopy will be democratized by the Nintendo 3DS in such a way that has never been experienced by the society since the craze of View Master. It is offering the 3D hardware that is more affordable than the present televisions and personal computers. The special glasses would not be required for seeing images popping out of the screen held by hand. In case of innovation a street two way can be represented by the 3DS. The 3D screen focuses on enhancing the experience of handheld gaming. This device uses the Pass technologies of network. These are street pass and spot pass.
The spot pass is the new background locator of Wi-Fi hot spot in Nintendo. Even when this device is in a sleep mode, this technology searches for connectivity for downloading the updates in an automatic way. This also stops piracy. It is mainly a stop gap in this world of mobile broadband. Soon it will be seen that how this device is capable of distinguishing between the open hot spots or the private hot spots. Spot pass is an important feature in the new unattended functionalities of Nintendo.
On the other hand the street pass can represent the things that can be done by the Nintendo 3DS with the ad hoc network as it continues the slumber of low power. The 3DS’s, are shown in the Nintendo videos as exchanging the Mii profiles passively in the beginning. With permission from the owners the games of Nintendo 3DS can create crown victors, whole battle and even deliver rewards without any kind of player’s intervention. The possibilities can be imagined.
The Nintendo 3DS is still a controlled ecosystem that has little space for the freedom of software development and even if the sales exceed the expectations of Nintendo it will be reduced by the cellular headsets’ install base. But what will happen if the technology of street pass is put into the smart phones which have online access. This can create services based on location for social networking or advertising. Check in services can also be automated through an identifying token. If you are wondering why mobile phone is a strategic area for the social networking sites then consider the influence of a service of Google which will help the users of Android phones in creating and exchanging profiles throughout the Google places. A metropolitan network will also grow quite soon.

Nintendo 3DS hardware
Nintendo 3DS - First Hands On
Finally at the New York press event, Nintendo displayed all its 3DS hardware. They declared that it is in their final stage. Press people were quite happy to find out that the 3D effect was quite good even for the short distance. Of there some issues like camera resolution of the handheld, playtime and battery life are yet to be cleared by them.
Without talking about the actual battery life, their official spokesperson claimed that anybody can play around 3 to 5 hours on 3DS with normal 3DS software but in case you want to use it for 5 to 8 hours then you need use Nintendo DS software. According to them playing 5 hours 3D games may not be manageable by the people but they did not conclude anything.
They allowed press people to play and check the front and back of the camera which is 640*480 pixels. The quality is as good as any of the cell phone. There are two cameras on the back to make the picture 3D. You can view 3D pictures only if it is 3DS.
They have not mentioned anything about the operating system which they will be using but the system was looking similar to the Wii where you could see big and easily scrollable buttons. The buttons were easy to navigate.
The buttons work as per the usual Nintendo games where home button takes you out of the game and bring back the main menu while playing any of the game. Many people were interested to know how much time 3D games can be played on it but most of the available games were in demo mode and were running for the short amount of time. After every 5 minutes thank you screen used to pop up and the game used to be closed. This made play time a real mystery.
As far as the angle of the 3D goes then the straight angle was the most preferable one. Few games needed the console to move and at that time 3D angle was not proper otherwise it was ok. When the consol was straight 3D effect was there for quite some time and even if you change the game, the effect remained same.
Overall it was a good display with lots of demo from Nintendo. It has given some of the great 3D gaming experience to the press.

Nintendo 3DS with new concept
If you have Nintendo 3DS then you should check what all games are possible with it as there are quite a few new games Nintendo has introduced. In the recent press event Nintendo has given demo of several games.
Many of the games were quite interesting but few games were added just to increase the number and push 3D technology.
Street fighter IV is one of the games which have great 3D conversion. The effect of 3D has changed the 3D graphics in a better way. The game is also there on 3DS StreetPass. It allows 3DS console to exchange the game with each other if more than one player is online. Even in sleep mode it works the same. This can be called the new concept and it is happening first time on handheld.
Rest of the game has not much new concepts and is more into latest 3D graphics, which has changed the mood of the game. All the games are quite colorful and bright which includes ‘Resident Evil’ where Zombi is in 3D comes to your fact to eat you. The rest of the characters and story is similar to the older version.
Another famous game ‘Legend of Zelda’ is also like that. The major change from the previous versions is 3D effects and few of the new controls. Rest of the game is same as the old version. If you are fan of 3D technology then you can be happy that all your old games you can play in the 3DS.
The 3DS gives you options about the technology. In case you want to play game in 2D there is a control which you can use. When you are playing in 3D technology, you need to keep 3DS in front of you in a steady place then only there will be good effect of 3D.
They gave demo of the few games which are not completed. They gave releasing dates of the few of the games as 2011. Nintendo has straight forward strategy. Instead of developing new games for 3D first they are going to convert their existing games to 3D as per the public demand. Few games they are converting with some improvement and few games without any modification.
After all the games are converted into 3D successfully then they might give us some new games or can even change old games as per the requirement and demand.

The Nintendo 3DS may come together with a video camera
This will surely take things to a completely new level. It is quite obvious to us that the new Nintendo 3DS will offer you with the capability of 3D stereoscopic for handheld gaming. This news is surely going to bring a change in the minds of the lovers of gaming. This is because now there will be a video camera of 3D capability bundled along with this portable gaming console as the feature of 3D photo can be transformed into a complete video recorder with 3D technology. This is presumably done with the help of a firmware update. However if this happens we must hope that the battery life which is already short would not suffer.

Nintendo 3DS or LG Optimus 3D- Which one offers better 3D display?
All the latest 3D gadgets are now coming up with a new technology. They are offering the users with a chance of viewing without wearing the 3D glasses. This was first started by the Nintendo 3DS. However, LG is now demonstrating the Optimus 3D, which is the first smartphone in 3D in the world. But a question has been raised by many that which one of these two devices offers better 3D technology.
Science
Both the Optimus 3D from LG and the 3DS from Nintendo use the parallax technology for displaying their 3D magic. This is a thin additional layer present over the display which is covered by small slits. Due to this the light which is projected out of the screen of these gadgets gets split into two different light paths. These displays effectively show two images at the same time. With the new technology there is no need of wearing the 3D glasses to experience a stereoscopic image. However the drawback of this technology is that you need to keep your eyes fixed in the particular spot. If your eyes move from the spot then illusion gets vanished in no time.
But among the two devices the Nintendo 3DS is reckoned as much better than the Optimus 3D when it comes to 3D viewing. May be more than one person cannot enjoy the 3D experience sitting around the console but the 3DS can be tilted to a fair inch without the spell getting broken. The sweet spot of the LG Optimus 3D is quite tight and if you move the phone or your head little bit then that will spoil the 3D effect. Besides this there are other problems in the Optimus 3D. The inbuilt accelerometer of the phone is used by various mobile games due to which the smartphone itself tilted to influence the on screen activities. But if the Optimus 3D is tilted even a little bit then the 3D effect will be broken.
There is an accelerometer in the 3DS also and this technology is used by lots of games that are available nowadays. So these games may suffer from the similar problem. However in the Nintendo 3DS, generally the buttons or the touch screen panel is used for controlling the device. This means you do not need to move the console too much for playing most of the games.
However both these devices are strong contenders in the 3D world with their excellent 3D effect. Resolution of anything that comes on the screen is halved by the 3D content but still everything that is seen looks highly bright and sharp. The depth of this 3D effect is quite impressive as the foreground objects seem to be coming out of the screen and the objects in the background provides an excellent feeling. This is really a great fun and the effect is efficiently handled by both the devices.
Do not forget the 2D imaging also. The LG Optimus 3D’s Android menu is not in the 3D format. However it does not have any problem with the 3D display which always looks sharp and bright. There is a slider control in the Nintendo 3DS on the top panel. This is quite impressive and helps you in switching over to the 2D format whenever you require. In case of the Optimus 3D, there is a slider on the screen which offers the similar purpose.
Thus only in terms of 3D effect, the Nintendo 3DS has an edge over the LG Optimus But there are other great features that are present in the Optimus 3D smartphone. This is a powerful smartphone that is powered by Android. This phone possesses a strong web browser which supports Flash and 5 megapixels dual cameras which can help the users in capturing 3D snaps or 3D videos in 720p. The users can also download lots of free games from the Android Market. The customers can also upload the videos to the 3D channel of YouTube. The phone also has a dual core processor which helps to run intensive games and applications.
So you need to decide which one you want on the basis of your requirements. If you want an excellent and powerful smartphone and you are ready to spend money for that, then the Optimus 3D would be a great choice. However if you want to experience 3D gaming at an affordable price then you should go for the Nintendo 3DS. This device may have less features than the Optimus 3D but you obviously would not get some of your most favorite and enjoyable games on the LG Optimus 3D.
